PGH spokesman Dr. Jonas del Rosario said 234 out of the 250 allotted COVID-19 beds in the hospital are currently occupied.

The hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) is also full according to Del Rosario.

Given the hospital’s current numbers, Del Rosario said he would prefer the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) to be further extended after May 14.

Del Rosario, however, said they will still have to see if the numbers will change during the two-week MECQ flex.

“Very fluid kasi ang aming admissions. Medyo we were trending down already nasa 216 out of 250 beds. Pero itong mga tatlong araw na nakaraan, puro paakyat na naman (Our admissions are very fluid. We were slightly trending down already, we were at 216 out of 250 beds. For the past three days, however, we saw an increase in numbers),” del Rosario told DZMM Teleradyo.

The PGH spokesman said there are still 80 patients waiting to be admitted to the hospital’s charity wards.
