This was bared by Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) Executive Director Dr. Jaime C. Montoya during a televised public briefing on Monday, May 3.

“Tinitingnan na po natin ngayon ay mga quarantine facilities ng Philippine Red Cross, kasama po natin sila sa pagaaral na isasagawa (We are looking at the quarantine facilities of the Philippine Red Cross, they are with us in the study that will be conducted),” he said.

He clarified that the participation of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients with mild to moderate cases in the clinical trial is “voluntary”.

"So basta ang importante dito ay mapaliwanagan lahat ng gustong sumali sa quarantine fatalities at sila ay po ay magbigay ng informed consent na ito po ay boluntaryo po. Hindi po ito pwersahan para maisagawa nang mahusay ang pagaaral na ito (So what is important here is that it will be explained to everyone in the quarantine facilities who wants to participate that they will be given informed consent that this is voluntary. This is not compulsory so that we can properly conduct this study),” he said.

PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Senator Richard J. Gordon said Sunday, May 2, that the PRC’s isolation facilities have so far served 253 asymptomatic coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients.

The PRC has set up isolation facilities at Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU), University of the Philippines (UP)-Diliman, De La Salle-College of St. Benilde (DLS-CSB) in Manila, and Adamson University (AdU).
