DOH logs 9,226 new cases of COVID-19


The Philippines logged on Saturday, May 1, over 9,200 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Based on the case bulletin issued by the Department of Health (DOH),there were 9,226 new confirmed cases of coronavirus infections, pushing the nationwide count to 1,046,653.

The death toll from COVID-19 has reached 17,354 with 120 new recorded fatalities.

The health department reported 10,809 new recoveries. This brought the number of patients recovered to 957,051.

Of the total number of COVID-19 cases, 72,248 were active cases.

The DOH said 33 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 22 were recoveries, it said.

"Moreover, 54 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it said.

The DOH said all labs were operational on April 29, 2021 while four labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).
