For the first time, Jessica Sanchez will show off her acting chops when she appears in a film which will tackle the pandemic.

The news was confirmed by Sanchez’s manager in the Philippines Carlo Orosa.

In an article published on ABS-CBN News, the recording artist is set to give life to a Filipina nurse struggling with anxiety amid the pandemic. It is written and directed by Filipino filmmaker Chris Soriano.

According to Orosa, the movie - where Sanchez also seats as executive producer - is targeted for release later this year.

“The film will surely add to the worldwide interest and concern on the Asian hate issue,"Orosa said.

Prior, the "American Idol" alum will launch on May 7 her latest song, "US," in collaboration with Shark Tank's Mark Cuban. It aims to raise awareness on anti-Asian hate crimes.
