Among the hospitals that received the locally produced ethyl alcohol that contains virgin coconut oil (VCO) include Sta. Ana Hospital, Ospital ng Maynila, Philippine General Hospital, Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, and San Lazaro Hospital.

VCO is known for its anti-viral properties.

The university also distributed containers of ethyl alcohol to Sta. Mesa Police Station and Malate Police Station.

Scientists from PUP developed their own version of ethyl alcohol amid the shortage of alcohol and hand sanitizers at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.
