The search is on for the musical piece that will help popularize the contents of the Beijing Platform for Action (BPfA).

The “MusikJuana Songwriting Contest,” organized by the Philippine Commission on Women, aims to make music as an advocacy for gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Music pieces must focus on BPfA’s 12 areas of concern which are: poverty, education and training, health, violence, armed conflict, economy, power and decision-making, institutional mechanisms, human rights, media, environment, and the girl and the child.

The contest is open to all Filipino composers and songwriters who currently reside in the Philippine.

Each entry must be an original work of the contestant and all rights, including copyright, must be owned exclusively by the contestant.

Submission of entries is until June 30. Winners will be announced and awarded in September.

Cash prizes ranging from P10,000 to P100,000 await the best entries.
