Gerald Anderson will play for one of the teams slated to see action in the Mindanao leg of the Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup.

A press release said the actor was signed by a team backed by Brew Authoritea, which is looking for an LGU partner after Anderson’s hometown of Cagayan de Oro declined the offer.

Anderson, who currently stars in ABS-CBN’s primetime drama “Init sa Magdamag,” makes his return to the cage scene after playing for Marikina and Imus in the MPBL and for the former in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3.

The 32-year-old is known to have played for Holy Trinity College during his high school days in General Santos City before entering the showbiz industry.

But the Mindanao leg remains in limbo after the Games and Amusements Board suspended its planned start next month in Dipolog City as part of its ongoing probe on the game-fixing allegations that marred the ongoing Visayas phase in Alcantara, Cebu.

Brew Authoritea, owned by Mogs Gonzales, will have former PBA players JR Cawaling, Ronjay Buenafe, Mac Baracael, Riel Cervantes, Joseph Sedurifa and Paul Sanga for the Mindanao leg.

Also part of the team coached by Vis Valencia and assisted by former PBA and ABL player Leo Avenido and Dale Lacorte are Lucas Tagarda, Ralph Salcedo, Francis Munsayac, Mark Sarangay, Brylle Meca, Andro Catipay, Andoy Estrella and John Gonzaga.
