Bimby Aquino is setting the record straight: it’s not his mom, Kris Aquino, who prevented him from getting in touch with his father basketball star James Yap, but it’s the other way around.
This was revealed by Bimby during a heart-to-heart talk with his mom in a video uploaded on social media platforms recently.
Kris asked her son if he felt considerable resentment towards his dad because he grew up without a father figure. “No, kasi I have such an awesome mama,” he said.
Bimby also denied the idea that something was missing in his life when he could not be with his biological father, saying many people around him have showered him with love.
Kris then asked Bimby if he has forgiven his dad. “Yeah ’cause… Sorry sa bluntness po ha, I don’t really care,” the young Aquino answered.
But Kris advised her son to expound on his answer so that others will not find it “bastos.”
“Hindi siya bastos po. You forget and when you look back at the memories those horrible memories mawawala na ‘yung pain,” he said. “He has his own life, and I have my own life. We are not in contact.”
Bimby also defended his mom, who’s tired of being “blamed as the bad guy.”
“No, it’s the opposite,” he clarified when Kris interjected: “A lot of people think that I have prevented you from making contact with him.”
Bimby, who just turned 14, also said that his father has been out of touch for several years now.
“I have a phone, and it just takes like 10 digits s keypad to call me, e, hindi niya ginawa in ilang years,” he said. “But all those people who love me, who care about me are like 650,000 times better than what I could get from him. Sorry sa bluntness ko po.”
James and Kris got married in 2005. Later they separated and their marriage was annulled. James is currently in a relationship with Italian banker Michela Cazzola and they have two children.
Recently, James greeted Bimby on Instagram. The post read: “HAPPY 14th Birthday Bimb. I Love you no matter what! Wishing you all the best that life can offer. God bless you (heart emojis).”
