Following chaos at the community pantry of actress Angel Locsin, Barangay Holy Spirit Chairman Chito Valmocina said Friday all organizers of such an initiative are now required to coordinate with the barangay officials before setting up their stalls.
“Lahat ng mag ko-community pantry sa Holy Spirit magalit na ang magagalit kailangang kakausapin ko ng personal. Ilan ba ang kaya niyong bigyan? (All organizers planning a community pantry at [Barangay] Holy Spirit, I need to talk to them personally. How many people can you accommodate?),” Valmocina said in an interview with DZRH on Friday.
“Hindi ka pwede ngayon mamigay sa barangay ko kung hindi coordinated (You cannot distribute to my barangay if it is not coordinated),” Valmocina stressed.
The village chief made his move after Locsin’s community pantry was halted due to violation of social distancing and the death of a senior citizen who fainted while waiting in line.
Valmocina said the organizers must coordinate with them and identify the recipients of the goods.
“Taga Holy spirit ba talaga gusto niyong bigyan? Dadalin namin kayo sa lugar ng mahihirap, personal na iabot nalang natin sa mahihirap ‘yung mga ganyan (Do you really want to give goods to the residents of Holy Spirit? We will take you to the place of the poor, we will personally just hand those goods to the poor)” he said.
“Hindi naman ho bawal, gagawa kami ng sistema, ginagawa natin ‘yung sistema nung nakaraan na kailangan coordinated. Sabihin nila ilan ang kaya nilang bigyan, sino gusto nilang bigyan, dadalhin ko sila sa pinakamahirap (It’s not prohibited, we will make a system, we will do the system in the past that it needs to be coordinated. Let us know how much they can give and who are the intended recipients, I will take them to the people who are really in need),” he said.
“Sana una’t huli na ito dahil hindi ko na papayagang mangyari pa itong muli (I hope this is the first and last because I won’t let this happen again),” he added.
Locsin’s community pantry was held at a commercial establishment in Barangay Holy Spirit in celebration of her 36th birthday.
