BASCO, Batanes – A vintage World War II bomb was excavated in Barangay Chanarian here Wednesday.
Joey Hornedo was operating a backhoe in the area when he discovered the bomb which was half meter in length and 12 inches in diameter.
According to authorities, if the bomb exploded, it can affect everything within a 500-meter radius.
It is still unclear if the excavated vintage bomb was used by then occupying Japanese or by the liberating American forces during the last years of the Second World War.
But authorities claimed that the bomb was probably from the war era of 1940s. The bomb was safely retrieved from the site and now under the custody of local authorities.
