SSS Circular No. 2021-002 issued by SSS President and CEO Aurora C. Ignacio grants the leeway for all regular employers in NCR, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal (collectively known as NCR-plus) to remit the contributions by month's end without penalties.

“We understand that quarantine restrictions in the past weeks have caused difficulties for our regular employers in the NCR-plus to pay the contributions of their employees on time. Thus, we have extended the payment period of their February 2021 contributions until April 30 without imposing penalties,” Ignacio said.

Republic Act (RA) No. 11199 or the Social Security Law of 2018 says that if an employer fails to pay contributions to the SSS as prescribed, it will incur a penalty of 2 percent per month from the date the contribution is due, until it is paid or remitted.

Employers based within the NCR-plus with approved installment proposals are also given until April 30 to deposit post-dated checks for payments due in March 2021.

Meanwhile, household employers and self-employed, voluntary, non-working spouses; as well as land-based overseas Filipino worker (OFW)-members will continue to follow their regular payment schedules under SSS Circular No. 2019-012.

The SSS also encouraged employers and members to use online and alternative payment channels for their contributions in light of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
