Bicol logs 166 COVID cases in 1 day


LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – The Bicol region recorded 166 COVID-19 cases in one day, the highest single day spike as of April 21, and four new deaths, the Department of Health (DOH)-Bicol said Thursday.

The latest tally of COVID-19 cases in the Bicol region by the DOH said that it has 6,952 cases with 1,456 active.

Camarines Sur has the highest number of recorded cases with 100; followed by Albay with 23 new cases; Sorsogon with 22; Camarines Norte with 17 while two recorded cases were from Taguig City and one each from Paco, Manila and Quezon City.

Catanduanes and Masbate did not deliver any COVID specimen due to suspended sea travel caused by typhoon “Bising,”  DOH said.

Bicol recorded four new deaths due to COVID-19, pushing the death toll to 263. The latest fatalities came from Camarines Sur.

Bicol has 81 new recoveries from COVID-19.
