The spirit of community pantry continues
The community pantry initiative spreads like wildfire all over the Philippines. And in Cagayan de Oro, another was established that is dedicated to help people in need of halal supplies.
Led by Khal Mambuay-Campong, the halal community pantry is located in front of halal restaurant Babu Kwan.
"This pandemic may have shaken us in one way or another, but together, we can make a difference," Khal said in a post. "This is one of those times when we have to do what we need to do. We all have our ways of helping. Magbigay ayon sa kakayahan, kumuha batay sa pangangailangan."
Certified halal products are items permissible and acceptable in accordance with Islamic law. While halal food sacred and special to our Muslim brother and sister, Khal notes that, in true spirit of community pantry, everyone is welcome to come and get their needs.
"Everyone is welcome to get what they need in this halal community pantry," he said in a post. "We added 'halal' to emphasize that you can find all halal supplies here. But halal is for everyone alike."
