“The Manila Cathedral joins the community pantry project, inspired by the Maginhawa community pantry and now initiated here by the Intramuros Administration,” read the post.

“Together with food and groceries, we also gave to everyone the 500 Years Mission Cross and rosaries donated by Manila Cathedral Souvenir Shop – Casa Benedicto and The Manila Cathedral Rosaries by The Rosary House. Everyone is truly gifted to give!” It further read.

The launch of the Archdiocese of Manila’s local celebration of the 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines last February was highlighted with the wearing of the Mission Cross.

The Archdiocese of Manila said the 500 Years Mission Cross, which has the name of Jesus inscribed in Roman letters and ancient Baybayin script intersecting, serves as a reminder of being Christians.

The Intramuros Community Pantry in Plaza Roma opened Sunday.

Community pantries allow people to donate for those in need who can choose what items such as food and other essential goods that they want to take home.
