DSWD reports over 5K evacuee-families in Bicol, Eastern Visayas

Over 5,000 families are currently taking temporary shelter in the 253 evacuation centers in the country’s two regions most affected by Typhoon “Bising”, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported on Monday April 19.

The DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) said as of 6 p.m., April 19, 5,351 families or 20,620 persons are staying in evacuation centers in Bicol and Eastern Visayas.

The report showed that 7,278 families or 28,704 persons opted to stay with their relatives and/or friends.

According to the DROMIC report, the number of affected families by “Bising” had reached 12,913 or 50,523 persons in 233 barangays in the two affected regions.

The DSWD assured the public Monday, April 19, that its Field Offices have readied their quick response teams (QRTs) to assist the local government units (LGUs) in the affected areas.
