"Magha-hire po tayo ng 50 additional call center agents para sa One Hospital Command (OHC) kasi medyo overwhelmed na po sa dami ng tumatawag (We will hire an additional 50 call center agents for the One Hospital Command because we've been getting overwhelmed with calls)," MMDA Assistant General Manager for Finance and Administration Romando Artes said in an interview over DZBB radio on Sunday, April 18.

A joint endeavor between the Department of Health (DOH), MMDA, and several other agencies and private entities, OHC is a health facility referral system that caters to Metro Manila residents. It was launched last year amid the persisting coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

It has reportedly been receiving over 300 calls a day eversince the surge in
COVID-19 cases began in early March.

"Alam ko po marami pong nagrereklamo na busy po yung line. Pagpasensyahan niyo po kami in behalf of DOH and MMDA and national government. Sobra po talaga ang tumatawag (I know many are complaining that the line is always busy. Please be patient with us--the DOH, MMDA and the national government. There is really a surplus of calls)," Artes said.

Due to the nature of calls being received by OHC, Artes said they prefer to recruit call center agents with a medical background, such as those who took up nursing.

He added that doctors would also be hired for over the phone consultation via OHC although he didn't say how many.

Artes said the MMDA, which houses the OHC call center agents, will also upgrade its Internet system in a bid to improve overall service.

Interested individuals may email their applications to the MMDA, he said.
