PAGASA warns of possible flooding near rivers in Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Caraga


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday, April 17, warned of potential flooding near rivers in Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga due to the anticipated rainfall from typhoon "Bising" (international name: "Surigae").

The State weather bureau issued the flood advisories at 6 p.m. on Saturday as Bising is seen to bring moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over the said regions.

"People living near the mountain slope and in low-lying areas of the above-mentioned river systems and the local disaster risk reduction and management councils concerned are advised to take necessary precautionary measures," the general flood advisories stated.

As of 4 p.m., PAGASA said the center of the eye of typhoon Bising was estimated at 460 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
