COVID-19 infects 7 more Filipinos abroad—DFA


The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Saturday, April 17, reported seven new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases among overseas Filipinos.

According to DFA, the additional cases pushed the total of COVID-19-stricken Filipinos abroad to 18,141 cases.

In its daily bulletin, the DFA said the death toll remained at 1,115 after no new fatality was reported among overseas Filipinos with the infectious disease.

DFA figures also showed that of the 18,141 cases, 5,884 of them are still undergoing treatment while 11,142 have already recovered.

Of the 91 countries or territories that have registered COVID-19 cases involving Filipinos, most are still in Middle East and Africa with 10,421 cases, followed by Asia Pacific, 3,469; Europe, 3,332; and Americas, 919.
