The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday reported 126 new cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) infections among Filipinos abroad.
In a report, the DFA also recorded two new fatalities and 100 new recoveries among overseas Filipinos.
This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases involving overseas Filipinos to 18,134. Of this total, 11,142 have recovered or have been discharged, 5,877 are undergoing treatment, and 1,115 succumbed to the disease.
Based on the DFA’s monitoring, the Middle East and Africa remain as the region with the most number of cases in all categories, namely confirmed cases (10,421); recoveries (5,863); undergoing treatment (3,828), and fatalities (730).
Except for the total number of deaths (229), the Americas remain to have the lowest in terms of confirmed cases (919); recoveries (603); undergoing treatment (87).
Despite the continuous surge in the number of COVID-19 cases affecting overseas Filipinos, the DFA, along with its personnel in various foreign service posts, has reiterated its commitment to attend to the needs of Filipino nationals, whenever possible.
