“I am saddened to inform that I again tested for COVID-19,” said Contreras in an online address posted on the Capiz provincial government’s Facebook page.

The first time Contreras was tested positive for COVID-19 was last August 2020.

Contreras disclosed he underwent swab test this week after a staff assigned at the provincial government’s Public Information Office (PIO) was tested COVID-19 positive.

In a similar manner during the first time he had COVID-19, Contreras is also asymptomatic. But emphasized how COVID-19 remains a threat.

“This only shows that COVID-19 affects anyone—regardless if you are rich or poor or you have a position in government or not,” Contreras pointed out.

While he is under strict home quarantine, Contreras assured that he is still on top of administering his duties in governing Capiz province.

“My service for the Capiceños will not stop,” Contreras added.

As of April 14, the Western Visayas regional office of the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 13 active COVID-19 cases.
