DSWD among top performing agencies - survey

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) welcomed Wednesday, April 14, the result of an independent survey showing that it is among the top performing agencies with a 57-percent nationwide approval rating.

DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista attributed the agency’s high approval rating to the devotion and hard work of the agency’s more than 35,000 personnel nationwide who have been faithfully delivering reliable and immediate social welfare and protection services to the country’s marginalised sectors, particularly the poor.

In a statement, the DSWD chief said he  "attributed this honor to all employees of the Department" whom he described as "angels in red vest for their  dedication to deliver social welfare services despite the risks of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).”

PUBLiCUS Asia Inc.’s PAHAYAG independent and non-commissioned survey showed that the DSWD got a 57-percent approval rating.

The survey was conducted from March 20 to 29 with 1,500 respondents.

"The DSWD is also grateful for the Filipino people’s trust and pledges to continue to ensure the delivery of  its “maagap at mapagkalingang serbisyo” especially to the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized sectors amid the pandemic,” the DSWD said.

The agency reassured the public that despite a number of its personnel being affected by COVID-19, the delivery of its various social protection services to assist poor and vulnerable families will continue.

These include the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation, provision of family food packs to local government units, Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, and Sustainable Livelihood Program, among others, it said.
