DOH says more than 1M vaccinated against COVID-19

More than one million have already been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Department of Health revealed Wednesday, April 14.

“As of now we already have 1.1 million plus vaccinated across the country,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a virtual forum.

She said almost 900,00O of healthcare workers had been vaccinated already adding that most of them are in hospitals and communities.

“As to those with comorbidities, we have around 100,000 plus,” said Vergeire.

The government is waiting for the arrival of more AstraZeneca for the vaccination of senior citizens.

Vergeire, meantime , revealed that they will speed up and widen the vaccination in the coming days.

“We’ve already identified the mega vaccination sites and we will start soon,” she said.

The Health official said one such site is the Nayong Pilipino.

“Sec. (Carlito) Galvez already talked to Sec. Berna (Romulo-Puyat) of the Department of Tourism and they had an agreement we will open it as one of our mega vaccination sites,” Vergeire said.

“Aside from that the private sector has already committed, as part of their corporate social responsibility, they will help for free. Their big areas can be used together with their workforce,” she added.
