Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo on Tuesday, April 13, retained lawyer Brian Keith F. Hosaka as spokesperson and head of the public information office (PIO) of the Supreme Court (SC).
Hosaka has been the SC’s spokesperson since January 2019 when he was first appointed by then Chief Justice Lucas P. Bersamin. His appointment was renewed by then Chief Justice Diosdado M. Peralta.
In a statement, Hosaka said:
“I am honored that Chief Justice Gesmundo has allowed me to stay on as Spokesperson and Chief of the Public Information Office of the Supreme Court.
“I am very excited not only because Chief Justice Gesmundo has a brilliant legal mind, but more importantly because he is kind, humble, and consultative.
“He strikes me as a Chief Justice who will be a decisive servant leader. This means that he will only have the best and selfless intention for the Judiciary.”
Hosaka worked as a law clerk in the office of the now retired Associate Justice Josue N. Bellosillo.
Prior to his appointment as PIO chief and spokesperson, Hosaka was a founding partner of the Paner Hosaka & Ypil Attorneys-at-Law. He also served as deputy general counsel of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.
He obtained his AB Interdisciplinary Studies (Merit Scholar) and Juris Doctor degrees from the Ateneo de Manila University in 1993 and 1998, respectively.
