Looking to have adjusted quickly to the new 7.29 patch, Execration came through with a 3-0 sweep of Smart Omega to rule the Moon Studio Spring Trophy and flex its muscle ahead of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Season 2-Southeast Asia Upper Division.
Rising star carry Jinn “Palos” Lamatao spearheaded Execration’s charge with his rampaging Troll Warlord, Nature’s Prophet and Phantom Lancer throughout the best-of-five championship series on Sunday night, April 11.
The Kimuel “Kim0” Borromeo Rodis-coached team which also features midlaner Yuri Dave “Yowe” Pacaña, support duo Don Carlo “BDz” Manalo and Ralph Richard “RR” Peñano, and offlaner Nikko “Nikko” Bilocura bagged the champion’s prize of $9,500 (over P460,000) in the 10-team invitational tournament.
Execration and Omega first topped the Southeast Asia group with identical 6-2 series win-loss records.
Palos and the crew then crushed Chinese squad Crocodile, 2-0, in the upper bracket first round before going down to the lower bracket after losing 2-0 to Omega which got the first seat in the grand finals last Friday.
Hours after the release of new hero Dawnbreaker and the fresh patch early Saturday, Execration pulled off a thrilling 3-2 victory over Team Dragon of China in the lower bracket finals to set up a rematch versus Omega.
Execration went on to exact its revenge against Omega, which settled for $5,500 (over P267,000).
