Christian King is a proud Gensanon who will appear in the upcoming flick “Stigma.”
King, 23, said that the movie tells about the struggles of people affected by COVID-19. Scheduled to be shown this year, the flick will also take part in various film festivals here and hopefully abroad.
This early, the former volleyball player at Far Eastern University in Manila is super excited for his debut film.
“Since I was a kid, dream ko na talaga ang pumasok sa showbiz. In school, I had workshops and personality development training pero I never had the chance to pursue it because naging busy nga ako sa sports sa school. So now I want to pursue it,” King said in a recent interview.
One of the talents of Edwin Rosas Visda, this 5’10 tall hunk said that he is ready for the controversies which he may encounter in showbiz.
“There will always be bashers, and you cannot please everybody. Mama Edwin advised me to just be nice na lang to people and focus on my goals as an artist. Walang mangyayari kung papatulan mo sila,” King said.
King also said he was told showbiz is not an easy industry. “Mama Edwin is there to guide me para makapasok sa showbiz. Pero once na makapag-start na ako sa entertainment world, ako na talaga ang gagawa ng kapalaran ko sa industry na ito.”
He also admitted pressure having come from General Santos City where the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Gerald Santos, Shamcey Supsup-Lee and Melai Cantiveros originated.
“May pressure rin pero konti lang naman kasi pagsinabi na GenSan, maiisip na nila agad yung mga sikat na tao roon. On my part, I will really do my best at gagalingan ko talaga para makasama ako sa league nila,” he said.
King names Elijah Canlas and JC Santos as among the actors he admires. “More on indie actors ang mga hinahangaan ko. In the future, I want to tackle more serious roles. I can sing but I don’t dance. Pero siguro kung tuturuan ako magsayaw, kakayanin ko naman.”
King, who will celebrate his birthday on April 17, hopes to visit his parents in General Santos City sometime in June.
“Matagal ko na rin sila hindi nakikita. Ang last na uwi ko sa GenSan ay 2019 pa. My sister is in Finland. Na-mi-miss ko na rin ang mga bonding moments namin sa GenSan.”
