Once again, O Skin Med Spa in California has been tapped as the official skin care partner of the 69th Miss Universe beauty pageant which will be held in Florida on May 16 (May 17 in Manila).

Filipino-Chinese Olivia Quido-Co, CEO and Founder of O Skin Med Spa, said that this is the second year in a row that her team will take care of the skin of the beauty queens competing in Miss Universe.

“It’s truly an honor to be the skin care partner of Miss Universe beauty pageant. I am excited to meet all the candidates in this year’s competition,” said Olivia, also known as Miss O, during a Zoom meeting with select members of the entertainment press on Saturday, April 10.

Olivia said that this year’s Miss Universe winner will receive skin care products from O Skin Med Spa as part of her prize package. “That’s why hindi muna talaga ako puwedeng makipag tie-up sa ibang international pageants. Exclusive muna ako sa Miss Universe Organization.”

This California-licensed esthetician recalled that her partnership with Miss Universe began in 2019 when she helped the pageant’s swimsuit competition and shared skin care tips for the candidates.

Olivia also said that she considers Jonas Gaffud, creative director of Miss Universe Philippines pageant and popular beauty queen maker, as one of her good friends in pageantry.

O Skin Med Spa has been the medical spa of choice among Filipino beauty queens; from Shamcey Supsup (Miss Universe 2011, 3rd Runner-up), Janine Tugonon (Miss Universe 2012, 1st Runner-up), Ariela Arida (Miss Universe 2013, 3rd Runner-up), to Megan Young (Miss World 2013) and Pia Wurtzbach (Miss Universe 2015).

A lot of Filipino celebrities like KC Conception, Boy Abunda and Claudine Barretto have endorsed and highly recommend their services. Hollywood stars such as Patti Austin and many others would drive out to LA for their famous signature facial.

Olivia said that this year’s pageant will definitely follow strict health measures due to the pandemic.

“One week before the finals, the guests, sponsors and national directors will also undergo swab tests. Nasa hotel kami overnight so hindi kami puwedeng lumabas hangga’t hindi nalalaman ang result ng test,” Olivia said. “Naka face mask and face shield din ang mga candidates.”

She added that there will be live audience for the finals of the 69th Miss Universe pageant. “I think 25 percent lang ang live audience sa finals.”

Asked about the chances of Rabiya in winning the fifth Miss Universe crown for the Philippines, Olivia said: “Nakausap ko na si Rabiya before. And I must say na malaki ang chance niyang manalo. Maganda siya at magaling magsalita. Ang laki na ng improvement niya ngayon.”
