The partnership was aimed at supporting and motivating thousands of Grab drivers and delivery partners to be always on the road to help local businesses reach their customers and provide safe mobility services in the province.

Grace Vera Cruz, Grab Philippines country head, said the support will include providing exclusive discounts on fuel and food, as well as dedicated lanes for delivery partners.

Drivers and delivery riders who have maintained a monthly average re-fuel of 200 liters and 50 liters, respectively, for at least six months, will also get support for their medical and insurance needs.

Partners may also apply for Shell-subsidized scholarships for their children, which Cruz said will help ease their worries on tuition fees and allow them to make the most from their earnings on the Grab platform.

For the part of Pilipinas Shell, Vice President for Retail and General Manager for Mobility Randy Del Valle said aiding drivers and delivery partners in Cebu will help local businesses to continuously operate and open up revenue streams amid the pandemic.

"We welcome this opportunity to partner with Grab Philippines to help restore mobility and reinvigorate the economy of Cebu," Del Valle said.

"We recognize the important part that their Grab driver and delivery-partners play in restarting businesses and bringing essential goods and services to the public in a safe and reliable manner. Pilipinas Shell is committed to this partnership which will help mobilize this city’s progress and economic recovery for years to come," he added.

This was echoed by Cruz who emphasized that drivers and delivery-partners "play an essential role" in the domestic economic activities in the Queen City of the South.

"By working together with Pilipinas Shell on a range of meaningful initiatives, we are able to continue helping our driver and delivery-partners with their everyday needs," she noted.

"We hope that they will continue to be on the road to serve the needs of our kababayans in Cebu, and contribute to the city’s broader socio-economic recovery," Cruz said.
