The local government of Parañaque is eyeing to build more isolation facilities in the city, Mayor Edwin Olivarez said Thursday.
In an interview with ANC, Olivarez said the city already has a plan if ever an “overflow” of patients in their 400-bed isolation facility occurs.
The city’s isolation facility is already at 75 to 85 percent capacity, according to the mayor.
Olivarez said the city government is targeting to transform four schools to isolation facilities.
“That would be additional 50 for each school, about 20 additional ,” the mayor said.
The mayor also said the city will hire additional health care workers to man the new isolation facilities.
The Parañaque mayor said the Philippine Red Cross will assist the local government in transforming the selected schools.
Olivarez said the four selected schools were already used as isolation facilities last year and were only closed since the city already experienced a “flattening of the curve.”
