Jack Animam’s success here and abroad prompted the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas to name her as Women in Basketball Ambassador.

SBP president Al Panlilio made the announcement Thursday, April 8, adding that the role will allow Animam to further promote women’s basketball in the country.

Being named as women’s basketball ambassador came a few weeks after Animam helped Shih Hsin University win Taiwan’s University Basketball Association crown with an unbeaten record.

“Animam surely inspired many young Filipina basketball players not just to devote themselves to the sport but also to set lofty goals for themselves,” Panlilio said.

“Having an official designation with the SBP will give Animam a bigger platform to continue to be an example of what a Filipina basketball player could be,” he added.

Animam is perhaps the country's most successful women’s basketball player, having won five straight UAAP championships with National University with a perfect 78-0 record.

She stretched that collegiate mark to 96 straight after Shih Hsin completed an 18-game sweep.

The 6-foot-5 also took home two golds in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games at home after capturing the 3x3 and the standard 5-on-5 events.

“Jack has been a blessing for women’s basketball here in the Philippines and we’re very happy to have her front-and-center for the SBP’s Women in Basketball program,” said Panlilio.
