Pasay government adds new crematory machine

The Pasay City government ordered a new crematory machine to replace their 15 year-old machine, especially now that they are recording an increase of cremation per day.

Laura Leonen, administrator of the Pasay City crematorium, said the 15 year-old crematory machine was built in 2006 which is set for dismantling until the new one arrived this coming April 19  and the second machine was built in 2010.

Leonen said the city’s crematorium was not only serving Pasay residents but also those coming from Makati, Las Pinas and Paranaque now that coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is recording an increase of deaths.

She said that before the COVID-19 pandemic the city’s crematorium was only serving 8 cadavers per day but it increased to 16 per day at the start of the pandemic.

However, it already increases to more than 30 cadavers per day being cremated because of the continued surge of COVID-19.

The crematorium administrator added that each day they have to finish the long line of ambulances bringing cadavers for cremation.
