DAVAO CITY -- The Inter-Agency Task Force COVID-19 of the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) announced Saturday that the Samal City Hall shall be closed to the public on April 5 and 6 for disinfection and contact tracing.

The island city, which is a component city of Davao del Norte, is still under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) status until April 30.
As of Saturday, IGACOS has six active COVID-19, with no new cases. Meanwhile, Davao del Norte has recorded 285 active cases with 32 new confirmed cases.
Last March 31, Samal Island registered four new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and one death.
The new cases included two minors -- a five-year-old and a 14-year-old girl from Barangay Kinawitnon. Meanwhile, the 73-year-old fatality was a male resident from Barangay Aundanao.
Registered and accredited accommodation establishments and resorts continue to operate in the island.
All tourists who enter the island are required to book a resort first to secure a valid tourist QR code.
Those coming from outside Davao region are also required to undergo antigen test conducted by the City Health Office upon entry or within 24 hours prior to their entry.
