Fashion designer Arielle Agasang passes away

Popular Filipino haute couture designer Arielle Agasang has passed away.

This was confirmed by Agasang's close friends on social media April 2. He died of cardiac arrest. Agasang's family asked his friends to pray for the eternal repose of his soul.

Agasang, who has dressed up political and showbiz personalities, was about to stage his latest collection in "Ako Ay Pilipino" fashion gala at the Manila Hotel on April 24.

The benefit show will honor diverse and dynamic businessmen, doctors, filmmakers, sports figures, movie and television personalities, musicians, and members of the diplomatic community, he said during a recent press conference for the upcoming event.

On Facebook, Agasang posted photos that showed him getting the measurements of Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and actor Alden Richards for their Barong Tagalog to be worn in the benefit show.

The Filipino fashion designer who was formerly based in Los Angeles, California counts international designers Emmanuel Ungaro, Dolce and Gabbana and Coco Chanel as his inspirations in fashion.


A devotee of Our Lady of Manaoag in Pangasinan, Agasang has designed for multi-awarded television host Boy Abunda, Kris Aquino, Patricia Javier, Tonton Gutierrez, Glydel Mercado, etc. He has also done fashion shows abroad.

Agasang, also a philanthropist, organized the first Mister Republic of the Philippines a few years ago.
