A decade ago, Liza Soberano was supposed to be introduced as a Kapuso actress, but the universe has another plan for her.

In an interview on “I Feel U,” comedian Ogie Diaz, Liza’s manager, revealed that prior to him managing the young star, Liza already signed a contract with GMA Network.

“Si Liza Soberano ay na-discover ni Dudu Unay. Si Liza ay dinala ni Dudu sa GMA 7. Pinapirma ng kontrata ng one year, pero may grace period na 30 days to back out,” he shared. “So nu’ng dumating sa’kin si Liza ng mga a week after siyang makapirma sa GMA, so kinuwento na nila sa’kin ‘yung senaryo na ano, (kako) ‘Patingin nga ng kontratang pinirmahan niyo?’… tapos sabe ko ‘Oh may 30 days grace period. Dali gawa tayo ng release,’ So nagpa-release kami, nagpa-release si Liza. So sa’kin na siya na ano, so inano ko siya sa ABS-CBN. Dinala ko siya na du’n so that’s the start.”

Since then, Liza was able to carve her own name in local show business, snatching different accolades.

But more than anything, Ogie is thankful how Liza became a blessing in disguise after helping him save his daughter’s life.
