Navotas City has started vaccinating its senior citizens against COVID-19 on Monday, March 29.
In an interview with DZRH, Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco said the city is targeting to inoculate 200 senior citizens by the end of the day.
Tiangco said the first 200 were chosen based on the guidelines of the Department of Health (DOH) which states that the oldest among the population of senior citizens in the city will have to receive the vaccine first.
The mayor said that registration for COVID vaccination among the city’s senior citizens is still low, but hopes that confidence in the vaccine will build up after Monday’s rollout.
Currently, 2,900 out of the city’s 30,000 senior citizens have registered to get the vaccine.
