Twenty-four more persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) have been released from the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF).

In a statement issued last Saturday, March 27, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said those released were among the 31 PDLs who had been granted parole.

Of the 24 released inmates, two of them were freed because they were acquitted of their criminal charges while five of them have served their jail terms, BuCor said.

For March 2021, a total of 38 PDLs have been ordered released in line with the directive of BuCor Director General Gerald Q. Bantag.

Bantag’s directive was implemented by Regional Superintendent CCSupt. Julie May C. Taguiam who signed the Certificates of Discharge.

“The DPPF Officers of IDPS (Inmate Documents Processing Section) headed by CTO3 Marianne Paula A Soguilon LPT, the Prison Overseer headed by CSInsp. Redentor S. Roque, and the Local MSEC (Management, Screening, and Evaluation Committee) diligently collaborated for the deliberation, verification of identities, release and turnover of PDL, and the grant of gratuity and transportation allowances from the Bureau,” the DPPF said.

“Likewise, to ensure that they are COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) free when they return to their families, the PDLs underwent Rapid Tests conducted by the frontliners’ of DPPF Health and Medical Services Section headed by CSInsp. Dennis Antonio A. Dacayana, MD,” it added.
