Royal Enfield is expanding its lineup with the arrival of a brand new model, the Meteor 350. Billed as a touring cruiser designed for longer rides, the Meteor draws inspiration from the iconic model from the 1950s with the same name.
The new Meteor is being promoted as an ‘easy cruiser,’ boasting of features designed to make long rides much more comfortable. It carries Royal Enfield’s signature classical styling while integrating modern in provements in its design, powerplan, as well as instrumentation. The new model was designed and developed by the teams based at Royal Enfield’s two state-of-the-art technical centers, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and Bruntingthorpe, UK.
Despite its classical look, the Meteor 350 is one of the most technologically advanced Royal Enfields ever developed. Design teams worked tirelessly to refine all the mechanical fittings and overall finish of the new Meteor 350.
It’s powered by a single-cylinder, 349cc air-cooled EFI engine that produces 20 Ps of power and about 27 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. To make the engine smooth, a new balancer shaft was put in place while still retaining the signature ‘Royal Enfield thump.’ It is mated to a five-speed transmission with a seven-plate clutch for truly smooth shifting. The motorcycle is also compliant with the most stringent Euro-5 emissions restrictions.
The rider gets a brand new instrument cluster that combines classic style with modern displays. The outer dial features a speedometer with a floating needle. Inside it is a digital display for the fuel level, gear indicator, odometer, and more configurable settings. Royal Enfield has also included the Tripper navigation system: a separate dial that offers convenient turn-by-turn (TBT) navigation when linked to the rider’s mobile phone. The system was designed to integrate smoothly with local Google Maps data. Besides these features, the Meteor 350 is fitted with LED lighting, a USB charger and ABS as standard.
The Meteor 350 will come in 3 variants; the Fireball, the Stellar, and the Supernova. The Fireball is the entry level offering, priced at P232,000. The Stellar comes with a flyscreen and backrest for the rear pillion, priced at P242,000. The top-of-the-line Supernova comes with a larger windscreen, exclusive two-tone colors, and a brown seat fabric, priced at P252,000.
