CALASIAO, Pangasinan – Police in this town and other parts of this province have established a safe and secure location where online vendors and buyers can do business and deter fraudulent transactions.
Police Lt. Col. Ferdinand “Bingo” de Asis, town chief of police, urged the people to facilitate their transactions at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Safe Exchange Zone in front of the police station here for peace of mind and security.
“Due to the growing number of victims of online scams, our police have set up a ‘PNP Safe Exchange Zone’ in front of our station to serve as a trading post that can be used as a meet-up point by those who transact online,” De Asis said.
De Asis reminded the people to be wary in their transactions after the local police received several complaints from victims of online scams.
The Safe Exchange Zone aims to reduce the increasing incidence of online scams and ensure that there will be a safe and private exchange between buyers and sellers here and other municipalities in this province.
“So don’t trust anybody, who promises something, especially in social media, just proceed to the police headquarters,” De Asis said.
