Keeping it real with this smart TV

Written by Jaime G. Misalucha, Jr.

With the rise of online streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney plus, The demand for high definition smart television has gone up as well.

realme, a young tech brand in the Philippines has joined the race for high definition smart TVs through its launching of the new realme TV.

The realme TV has 32 inches and 42 inches variants that consumers can choose from. Either way, they both have the same functions and specs except, of course, for its screen size. The display boasts of tiny bezels all around with its chin a bit thicker as it houses its Dolby audio 24W quad stereo speakers.

Being located at the bottom of the screen, the sound fires downwards which I personally think feels much closer to the user compared to other TVs with speakers firing at the back of the screen (feels like the sound is coming from your neighbor’s house). The sound is also crisp, clear and loud enough to make any room feel like you are in a movie house.

Off the box, you will find a desk stand with identifiable marks on its packaging and on the stand itself whether it is for the Left or the right side of the smart TV. You also won’t have a hard time figuring out how to install it as it only connects one way. Of course, you must secure it with screws that come with the box.

Apart from the desk stand, the realme TV box also comes with 2 triple A batteries for the remote and an RCA cable adaptor for your traditional audio and video devices.

This smart TV comes with multiple ports, located at the back and at the bottom, for you to connect almost all of the things you will need. There are 3 HDMI ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports, Digital audio out, 3.5mm audio out, AV out, Antenna, and LAN for cabled internet connection.

It runs using the Android operating system that in my opinion is the best and dependable Smart TV OS around.

Of course, with Android OS you have access to a lot of apps from the Google play store. But not all apps are available such as the iWant TFC app, ehem… Hi iWant TFC peeps! But if you are tech-savvy, there are online tutorials that can guide you on how to sideload apps. Though I feel that this is not really advisable as it may tamper with the OS' overall performance especially its security.

Configuring the realme TV is also easy. You just have to follow the instructions on the screen and the rest will be done by the TV. Of course, you need to log in to your Google account to maximize its use.

The remote control of the realme TV is a joy to use. It is very responsive and you don’t have to make that much effort in pressing the buttons. It has dedicated buttons for Netflix, Amazon Prime and Youtube. In addition, it has a Google assistant button for voice-activated commands.

Overall, the realme TV delivers exceptional images thanks to its Chroma Boost Picture Engine that uses advanced algorithms to enhance the overall picture quality and improves the brightness, color, contrast and clarity to deliver stunning visuals. With its built-in Android OS with Google, you are instantly all set for your next movie or series marathon.
