Stronger opposition wiped out the Olympic dreams of Filipino paddlers as the ITTF Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament concluded at the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena in Doha, Qatar Friday night, March 19 (Manila time).

Jannah Romero blanked Indonesian opponent Siti Aminah, 4-0, on the last day of the women's singles in the lone Southeast Asian group.

Rose Jean Fadol wasn't as successful after suffering a 1-4 defeat at the hands of Thai foe Orawan Paranang.

Despite winning and placing second with a 2-1 record, Romero failed to qualify to the Olympics as Paranang earned the slot with an undefeated 3-0 card. Fadol, for her part, ranked third with a 1-2 slate.

In men's play, Jann Mari Nayre fell to Rafanael Nikola Niman of Indonesia, 2-4, while Thai Padasak Tanviriyavechakul swept Filipino bet John Russell Misal, 0-4.

Both Nayre and Misal placed third in their respective groups.
