Twelve more barangays and two other areas in the City of Manila will be placed under lockdown starting Monday, March 22 amid rising COVID-19 cases.
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso signed Executive Order No. 8, Series of 2021, placing the following barangays under granular lockdown from 12:01 a.m. on Monday, March 22 to 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, March 25.

Domagoso also placed Kusang Loob Street at Barangay 353 in Sta. Cruz and NYK Fil-Ship Management Building at Barangay 658 under lockdown.
The Manila mayor said the lockdown was implemented "to contain the resurgence and spread of and mitigate any adverse effects of COVID-19."
The said areas, that each have over 10 active COVID-19 cases, will be considered "critical zones" where enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) standards of health protocols will be implemented.
According to the order, residents of these areas shall be strictly confined to their residences and are prohibited from going outside their homes.
However, the order exempts the following: health workers, military personnel, service workers (pharmacies, drug stores, and funeral homes), utility workers (energy, cable, internet, telecommunication companies, water, sanitation, and critical transport facilities including port operation), essential workers (goods delivery, food delivery, banking and money services), barangay officials (Chairpersons, Barangay Secretary, Barangay Treasurers, Kagawads, and Executive Officers), and media practitioners accredited by the Presidential Communications Operations Office and the Inter-Agency Task Force.
Affected residents will receive food boxes from the city government.
Members of the barangay and the police will be deployed to ensure the proper implementation of the lockdown.
Violators will be placed under a 14-day quarantine, Domagoso said.
On March 15, Domagoso placed Barangays 185, 374, 521, 628, 675, and 847 under lockdown.
The lockdown order will be lifted on Saturday (March 20).
Before this, the local chief executive also placed Barangays 351 and 725, and Malate Bayview Horel and Hop Inn Hotel at Barangay 699 under lockdown from March 11 to 14.
As of Friday, at least 2,155 active cases out of 32,587 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported by the city government. Of this figure, there are 29,585 recoveries and 847 deaths.
