Among the surprise wins (but a totally deserving one) at the 63rd Grammy Awards is the victory of Filipino-American artist Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson, famously known as H.E.R. The R&B singer took home the Song of the Year award for her track "I Can't Breathe." It is an understatement to say how powerful this song is as it was written in honor of George Floyd and has been among the many ballads that supported the Black Lives Matter movement in the U.S.

"We wrote this song over FaceTime, and I didn't imagine that my fear and that my pain would turn into impact and it would possibly turn into change," H.E.R. said in her acceptance speech.

Of course, being part Filipino, H.E.R. knows that her success is also a triumph celebrated by her dear loved ones and kababayans. And in Filipino culture, the second in line in the proudest list from our parents is our ever loving titas. In a Tiktok post, H.E.R. shared how her Tita Joan would react to her recent win. From the Grammy award to the diamonds she wore, H.E.R.'s tita impersonation is so on point!
