DPWH produces more COVID care facilities, this time for Iloilo


The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) continues to crank out coronavirus disease (COVID-19) care facilities on top of its regular deliverables on road work.

Another five of these COVID-19 facilities were recently completed and turned over to the Provincial Government of Iloilo, a statement from the agency bared Sunday, March 14.

DPWH Secretary and Chief Isolation Czar Mark A. Villar, citinga report from DPWH Regional Office 6 Director Lea N. Delfinado, said that new structures were composed of three isolation/quarantine facilities located in the Provincial Sports Complex in Lapaz, Iloilo City; and two off-site dormitories situated in Dr. Ricardo V. Ladrido Memorial District Hospital in Lambunao, Iloilo and Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan, Iloilo.

Villar explained that the container vans-turned-isolation/quarantine facilities had 16 air-conditioned rooms with their own comfort rooms. Also present are amenities like nurse quarters and nurse station.

Meanwhile, the off-site dormitories are composed of 16 air-conditioned rooms with individual comfort rooms, dining and living area, kitchen and laundry area, and other necessary features.

The DPWH officially turned over the healthcare facilities in a ceremony at the Iloilo Sports Complex compound in Barangay Magsaysay, Lapaz, Iloilo City. The rites were attended by Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. and the district and provincial hospital representatives of Lambunao and Pototan, Iloilo.

Villar said that DPWH is committed to provide the needed healthcare facilities to aid local governments all over the country in caring for COVID-19 patients, while also ensuring comfort and safety to the healthcare workers.
