A candidate of Bb. Pilipinas 2020 pageant has pushed for rabbit farming as another alternative for meat sources.

This was revealed by Binibini Alexandra Faith Garcia of Olongapo City during a meet-and-greet event with some select members of the pageant media in Quezon City last Thursday afternoon.

Joining Faith in the meet-and-greet event were Rodgil Flores of the Kagandahang Flores beauty camp and Enan Cruz, camp trainer.

"I started breeding middle of 2020. I feed them with dry grass and vegetables,” said Faith. The Binibini said that she's breeding two types of rabbit -- the pet and the meat type. She has already bred 21 rabbits in Olongapo City.

“Rabbit meat is a good nutrition alternative to pork and beef and also tastes good. Breeding age is five to six months, ngayon pa lang sila nagpapadami Masarap po ang rabbit meat," she said.

Faith said that she also supports the Department of Agriculture in its campaign to promote rabbit farming. During the event, the pageant media feasted on several rabbit dishes prepared by Garcia.

The pandemic also paved the way for Faith to focus on other businesses such as milk tea and takoyaki in Olongapo and Sampaloc in Manila respectively.

"It really taught me to reinvent and act fast. Masyadong naapektuhan ang food industry natin so we need to be flexible," she said.

This is the second time that Faith is joining the Bb. Pilipinas beauty pageant. Faith shared the difference between competing in 2016 and the present time.

"Noong 2016 kasi parang gigil na gigil akong manalo at hindi ko man lang na-enjoy yung pagcompete ko. So now, aside from having an advocacy, I also want to enjoy the moment of being a Binibini," she said.

Asked why she focused her advocacy on healthy lifestyle, Faith said: "Dialysis PH touched my heart. When I learned about this group, naisip ko na kailangan nila ang tulong ko. If I will the crown, mas marami pa akong matutulungan sa advocacy ko na ito."

Faith said has raised fun run events in which all proceeds were turned over to Dialysis PH. She also said that no one in her family needs dialysis this time.

A tourism graduate from Columban College, Faith is also a triathlete. She said that being in sports taught her discipline. "You only live once so might as well keep a healthy mind and a healthy lifestyle."
