Father Ricky Gente told church-run Radio Veritas on Thursday, March 11, that the painting of Filipino artist Ryan Carreon Aragon, was given by a family for the Pope.

A photo of the painting shared by Veritas showed Ferdinand Magellan giving Doña Juana the image of the Sto. Niño (child Jesus).

Scalabrinian priest Gente on March 3 told CBCP News that the Pope will lead Filipinos in Italy in celebrating the 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines with a Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica at 10 a.m. on March 14.

He said the celebration will be livestreamed from the Vatican to reach Filipinos in different parts of the world.

The pontiff will be joined by Filipino Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, and Cardinal Angelo De Donatis, the Pope’s vicar of Rome.
