ArkAngel emerged as the second Philippine representative to the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Southeast Asia Masters as it took down The First Order Esports, 3-1, in the grand finals of the Stage 1 Challengers 3 over the weekend.
Led by former Bren Esports CSGO standout Enrico “Ching” Perez together with modeskiii, JoshS, Karl and Yohann, ArkAngel soared its way to three straight map victories over TFO after dropping the first one to clinch a spot in the regional tournament later on.
ArkAngel bagged the P60,000 top prize and joined two-time PH Challengers champ Bren in the inaugural SEA Masters that will also feature NG.Black and another Thai team, Team nxl and a second Indonesian squad, the winner of Malaysia-Singapore Challengers 3 and the victor of Hong Kong-Taiwan Challengers 3.
After losing 13-5 in Icebox, ArkAngel evened up the championship series with a nail-biting 15-13 win in Split.
The boys in black and white then thrashed TFO in the last two maps, winning 13-5 in Ascent and 13-4 in Haven.
ArkAngel sparked its title run in the eight-team tourney hosted by the PPGL with a 2-0 sweep of Sierra Esports Atlas before edging out DR Esports, 2-1, to advance to the finals.
Ching and the crew redeemed themselves after falling to Bren, 3-1, in the grand finals of Challengers 2 and crashing out right in the first round with a 2-0 defeat to Empire Esports in the Challengers 1.
TFO, which posted a 2-1 win over Oasis Gaming in the semifinals, nabbed the runner-up prize of P30,000.
DR drubbed Hashira, 2-0, while Oasis outplayed Empire, 2-1, in the first round to end up on the 3rd-4th place for P20,000 each.
