PH's COVID-19 infections breach 600,000 mark


The total number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the country has reached the 600,000 mark on Tuesday, March 9.

The March 9 case bulletin of the Department of Health showed that there are now a total of 600,428 COVID-19 cases after it reported 2,668 new cases.

The DOH also reported 171 new recoveries and 7 new deaths.

Total COVID-19 recoveries is now at 546,078 while total deaths is now at 12,528.

And less the deaths and recoveries, the DOH said there remain 41,822 active COVID-19 cases in the country.

Of the active cases, 91.6 percent are mild cases, 3.9 percent are asymptomatic cases, 1.9 percent are severe cases, 1.8 percent are critical cases, and 0.80 percent are moderate cases.

The DOH said three duplicates were removed from the total case count saying these are recoveries.

"Moreover, the cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation," said the Health department.

The DOH said eight labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on March 8, 2021.
