Coast Guard welcomes 128 Auxiliary volunteers in Batangas


The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) welcomed at least 128 new volunteers of PCG Auxiliary in Calatagan, Batangas.

PCG District Southern Tagalog Commander, Commodore Tito Alvin Andal led the oath-taking and donning ceremonies of the PCGA inductees on March 1 in Barangay Bagong Silang, Calatagan, Batangas.

The Coast Guard said one of the inductees is Calatagan Mayor Peter Oliver Palacio, who was appointed to the rank of Captain.

During his speech, Palacio underscored the continuous restoration of the Cape Santiago Lighthouse that guides the mariners in the vicinity waters off the province and attracts local tourists in Calatagan.

The PCG Auxiliary volunteers support the Coast Guard in conducting humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations, as well as marine environmental protection initiatives.
