MBC short film competition launched

Manila Broadcasting Company has launched a short film competition to celebrate the extraordinary creative energy of Filipino filmmakers nationwide.

The 2021 MBC Short Film Festival (MSFF) is now accepting entries for short feature, narrative documentary, and animation from filmmakers around the country, who can show in 20 minutes or less, a human interest story based on real-life characters/situations in which the Filipino triumphs over adversity. 15 films will be selected for the final competition, scheduled on August 16-30, 2021.

Category winners will receive P75,000 each and will vie for the Gran Prix, with a take-home prize of P150,000 tax-free.

The competition serves as the centerpiece of the anniversary celebrations of MBC’s flagship station DZRH, which has been serving the public since it first went on the air in 1939. Having been the frontrunner in radio dramas and documenting history as it unfolds via its news and public affairs division, MBC-DZRH now hopes to contribute a digital platform for Filipino filmmakers to share their works with the world at large.

Deadline for submission of entries is on June 15, 2021.

Detailed requirements are available on the official website: www.mbcfilmfest.com and will also be posted on the MBC Short Film Festival Facebook page. For further enquiries, email: [email protected]
