There has been an uptick in the number of COVID-19 cases in the last two days, which Robredo noted during her weekly radio show over dzXL.

On March 5, the number of cases was 3,037, the first time the country breached the 3,000 mark since October 2020. This was followed by an additional 3,439 new cases the next day.

“Sa tagal kasi ng lockdown ang iba inip na. ‘Yung iba naman dahil medyo bumaba ‘yun kaso may mga araw na 1,000 plus na lang nag-kampante na. Pero ngayon, nakakatakot kasi last three days, 3,000 plus ‘yung kaso (Because we’ve been in lockdown for so long, others became impatient. Others got complacent because there were days where we only have 1,000 plus cases. But now, it’s scary because there were 3,000 plus cases for the last three days),” Robredo said.

The vice president cited an OCTA Group Research report of top barangays with new COVID cases in Metro Manila from Feb. 26 to March 4.

Among these were Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City; Pio del Pilar and Bel-Air, Makati City; Barangay 704, Manila; Tambo and Baclaran in Paranaque City; Tandang Sora, Quezon City; Barangays 76, 59, and 183, all located in Pasay City.

Robredo said she hopes Filipinos won’t be too complacent since the vaccines already arrived since the supply is still limited to frontliners.

On February 28, 600,000 doses of China’s Sinovac vaccine arrived, which prompted the rollout of the government’s vaccination program, which prioritizes health care workers for now.

On March 4, 487,200 doses from UK’s AstraZeneca arrived while the remaining 38,400 doses are set to be welcomed later.
