Daquis, Dionela excited to return to PVL

Rachel Daquis and Jheck Dionela are excited to return to the Premier Volleyball League where they both first started as club players.

This after their team Cignal HD announced Thursday, March 4, that they are joining the league.

“Excited na kami for the season, especially for me kasi dito talaga ako nagsimula sa V-League,” said Daquis in an interview with The One show on OneSports+, referring to the league’s old name.

The 33-year-old open spiker said a lot has changed since her last stint with the league in 2015.

“Super different. Nag-mature, in a way dahil ibang level na ang paglalaro ko ngayon,” Daquis said.

Dionela, whose last stint with the league was in 2013, said it was a sort of homecoming for her.

“Yung huli kong laro kasi with Cagayan Valley, nag-champion kami. So hopefully, pagbalik ko ngayon with a new team, sana mag-champion din kami,” she said.

The diminutive libero admitted she is most excited about facing her idol, Manilla Santos of Choco Mucho.

“Isa kasi siya sa mga dahilan kung bakit ako nag-volleyball. Never ko pa siya nakalaban so, excited ako na makalaro siya,” Dionela said.

Daquis and Dionela said the team has not stopped their training and conditioning despite the pandemic, and are looking forward to team training in the future.

The Open Conference is tentatively set in May where Cignal HD will face sister team PLDT Home Fibr, Creamline, Choco Mucho, Petro Gazz, BaliPure/Chef’s Classics and guest teams Army and Air Force.
